I honestly didn’t expect to set foot in a prison at least not this year, anyway. Here, nature has launched its own rehabilitation programme: moss spreading through the cracks, brambles climbing in through the windows, and shafts of sunlight slipping inside like visitors who somehow forgot to sign in at the entrance.
What struck us most was seeing it so old, yet almost untouched. Despite being abandoned for around thirty years, the cells, corridors and heavy doors still carry that unmistakable atmosphere of a place that was never meant to feel welcoming.
And then, of course, there were the porn posters in the rooms. A truly unexpected decorative choice apparently even prison interiors needed a little personality.
